Write to Papa

The Grandfather Project

Since the time I completed my Grandfather Project, Papa suffered a stroke, and has moved in with my mom. It's been a very trying time for everyone, especially Papa.

So, here's an opportunity for you to help.

Papa would like to hear from you.

If you would, take some time today and watch "The Grandfather Project", and look through the pictures in it's Flickr Album.

Then, write to my grandfather.

(If you would like to e-mail, you can e-mail me: caleb@calebchancey.com and I'll pass it on to him.)

However, if you would like to write him a letter, you can send it to:

Bill Snead
2804 Peachtree Drive
Dothan, AL 36303

If you could do this, I know this would literally make his month!

Thank you!

P.S. For those of you who write him a letter, make sure to have your return address on the envolope, because you'll be getting something special in the mail!

The Grandfather Project

The Grandfather Project

This last week my Grandfather had a stroke. That shocked me into staying up until 3:30am and finishing this project. Don't worry, Papa is still alive and kickin', and if you're in Dothan, AL, anytime soon, you should stop by and visit him. He truly is a wonderful man.

I hope you have enjoyed this project, and I would love to hear what yall think.

The Grandfather Project: Film Edits Completed

The Grandfather Project

I've completed the film and digital edits for the project, and I just got back the 8mm footage I shot. All that's left is putting it all together.

The Grandfather Project: Update

Papa

This week, I'll be going through the hours of audio interviews I have, and selecting 3-5 minutes to couple with the photographs and 8mm.

I'll be working in the studio and at Urban Standard. If you are in the neighborhood, and wish to see the project as it progresses, please stop by.

The Grandfather Project: Update

Papa is most at home when he is sitting in his big leather chair, the TV on CNBC, his head cocked back while he is completely passed out in one of his "Papa Naps".

However, between nap and bedtime, Papa and I sat down for a 2 hour coversation last night. One of my favorite stories was of Papa playing in a basketball tournament in highschool. He remembered everything: the points he scored in each game, the names of each team, etc. "Then there was this one player who would always stay at the 3 point line and wait for me the come at him. Because of him, I only scored 3 points in that game", he then paused. "His name was Ferbi, and he dropped the atomic bomb in World War II."

Crazy.

Papa and I went to coffee this morning and then we drove all over Enterprise the rest of the day. I really can't wait to get the film back

Peace. - Caleb

The Grandfather Project

Over the next few days I'll be taking pictures, 8mm, and audio interviews with my Grandfather, Papa. This will all come together in a 3-5 minute multimedia presentation on his day-to-day life.

I hope to update while I'm there, but you never know, because he doesn't have the internets in his house (go figure).

Peace. - Caleb
