Erin & Brent

The Marriage of Erin & Brent

This past Friday, I had the absolute joy of photographing the marriage of Brent & Erin Roberts. I know it wasn't their goal, but they totally knew how to make me happy:

Small Family Wedding (27 people)
On a Weekday (friday!)
No Bridesmaids or Groomsmen (I love bridesmaids and grooms men, but the fewer people I have to shoot, the more focused I can be)
Incredibly Sweet People

Thanks Guys!

P.S. Thanks to Abby & Bryan for assisting the day!

The Matt Chancey Family

The Matt Chancey Family

My oldest brother, and his family, came into Birmingham yesterday to pick up their Christmas present: a family shoot.

Love them.

By the number of kids, I guess you could say I'm a pretty generous gift giver...

The Francisco Wedding

I'm so happy with this wedding. I'm planning on having it complete by Christmas, so all stories will wait until it's released.

New Polaroid Cameras

While in Austin this weekend, Rob and I stopped at a Wolf Camera that was going out of business. There was pretty much nothing left in the store.... except 4 polaroid cameras! These are not regular polaroid cameras, they are: two Shackman Multishot 102, one 4x5 multishot, and one passport camera (including flash and PC sync)!

I'm just saying.... we had fun that weekend.

Here's a few examples from the 102's:

Shooting and Editing

Moxii

The last three weeks have been crazy....and cool...crazy cool.

The Moxii project will be officially wrapped up in the next couple of days, and I can't wait to see it all together. It's very rare that I get to be on the ground floor in creating a "seen style" with a company. Usually a client knows exactly what they want and you are hired to be a fulfillment of that pre-determined style. But with Moxii, I got to be very creative. I was able to hire my favorite stylist (Celine), and with the rest of the Moxii crew, we created something really really cool!

Rob Culpepper - Test Shot

Amongst the craziness of the two weeks with Moxii, I was hired by Garden & Gun to shoot a "Portrait of Birmingham" for the June issue. I am not exagerating by saying thatG&G is my favorite magazine, and I was pretty floored when they called. So for the last two days, Rob Culpepper (who the dawned the role of assistant) and I have travelled all around Birmingham shooting portraits, food, environments, hotels, etc.

The film gets back tomorrow, but I can't show any of the final images until the magazine is published in June. However, I hope this test shot of Rob will hold you over for a while.

Peace. - Caleb

Peace

As I predicted a couple of weeks back, the last two weeks have been crazy busy and crazy amazing.

Here's a little overview:

I've been to Dothan, AL to get my wisdom teeth out; while Laura and I were in Dothan, her apartment burnt down; we got back to Birmingham and dealt with a bunch of apartment stuff, then we headed to Baton Rouge; Where we then got engaged (!); Then I headed to New Orleans to shoot a wedding; Then we picked up Bryan and Ashley's kid Noah, and we headed back to Birmingham; Then when we got in we had people over to my apartment for beers and Heim; then I got up and drove to Sylacauga, AL, for a meeting; then I drove back to Birmingham and went shopping; then I went to random music rehearsal; then Laura and I went to look at an apartment; then I woke up this morning at 4am and drove back to Sylacauga, AL to a place called Farmlinks where I'll be shooting for the next 3 days; then Laura and I will drive to Chattanooga, TN on Friday to attend the wedding of Melissa & Nicholas.

...............

The polaroid that begins this blog post is a shot I took this morning at 6:30am. I was on the 17th green, and the ground was damp and soft. Birds were beginning to stir, and the air around me served as a chilling hint that fall was coming soon.

If you were to take out a map and locate "peaceful", that is where I was this morning.

Ansley Kate Waddell

It's a strange and wonderful thing when your friends start having kids. Strange in thinking that you and your friends are no longer considered "kids", and wonderful because they are going to be the coolest parents in the world!

This is very much the case with Danielle and Joseph Waddell. I've been friends with both of them since high school, and on Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing their little girl, Ansley Kate. This was her first "professional" photoshoot, and I have a feeling that Danielle and Joseph have a model on their hands. She seriously knew what to do, and would totally ham it up whenever the camera came out!

Above is one of my favorite polaroids from the shoot.
